Arknights (Chinese: 明日方舟; Pinyin: Míngrì Fāngzhōu) is a mobile science fiction tower defense gacha video game developed by Hypergryph and Studio Montagne. It is released on mainland China in May 2019 and released internationally (in English, Japanese, and Korean) in January 16, 2020 for iOS and Android with Yostar, best known for Azur Lane, as the publisher.

SynopsisEdit

Arknights takes place in a dystopian, somewhat grimdark world of Terra which is almost similar to our own aside of the presence of humanoids with animalistic traits (called Ancients in-universe) and magic-like powers (Arts), and is devastated by Catastrophes forcing its inhabitants to adopt a nomadic life through mobile cities as well as the pandemic of Oripathy, a terminal disease caused from exposure to Originium, a crystalline mineral left behind after Catastrophes used in many applications including Arts.

The game is told from the perspective of Rhodes Island, a paramilitary medical organization sought to provide treatment and finding cure to Oripathy, through an enigmatic, amnesiac doctor recently awakened from a long cryogenic sleep, and follows their conflict with the Reunion, a violent non-state actor intending to punish the Terran society for their mistreatments towards the Infected – individuals with Oripathy.
